Nick Parker was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2015. He set out to explore what could have been done to prevent the disease, and what lifestyle changes he could now make to control the cancer. Adopting a strict vegan diet, and avoiding sugar and alcohol were just the start, follows by trying various organic wholefoods, some in significant quantities. Nick did much to raise awareness of prostate cancer by publicising his lifestyle journey on his blog

He took up meditation and increased his regular exercise, also whilst undergoing chemotherapy. Nick even appeared in TV presenter Bill Turnbull’s own prostate cancer story “Staying Alive” on Channel 4 (remember the ‘vegetable broth’ man?). Nick had said that the years since his diagnosis had been his happiest. (Obituary, The Times 15 May 2021).
